UWIC MBA

We are now accepting applications from students who have completed ATHE PG course for the September/October intake of the MBA advanced entry programme

at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC).

Students will need to complete the Research Methods at the University before proceeding with their dissertation. All application forms and accompanying documents will be administered at ATHE Norwich office.

We hope also to have other starting dates including January and July. The campus based students will have their first session on Sat 9th October. In total 5 sessions over 24 weeks. They are not evenly spaced. They are as follows:

Session 1 - Saturday 9th October 2010 , 1.00- 6.00
Session 2 - Saturday 6th November 1.00 - 5.00
Session 3 - Saturday 9th January 2011 - 1.00- 5.00
Session 4 - Saturday 5th February 1.00- 6.00
Session 5 - Saturday 2nd April 1.00- 5.00

The dissertation submission date is 2nd May 2011. A few extra weeks are given on top of that so officially the course will end on 20th May (for visa purposes especially).

Applications for UWIC MBA must be with ATHE by early August, this is particularly so as we have a cap on numbers due to availability of staff. See application form link below:

Edge Hill University

Well over 100 ATHE Postgraduate students will start their MBA top up at Edge Hill University this month (July).

We are now recruiting for September but please note students must have completed the full ATHE PG course.

Edge Hill Application Form - http://www.edgehill.ac.uk/documents/study/apply/PGAppForm.pdf
Guidance notes - http://www.edgehill.ac.uk/documents/study/apply/PGNotesforGuidance.pdf

Start date 16th August.
The handing in date for the students dissertation will be 28th January and
the official end date for MBA top up at Edge Hill is Friday 4th February 2011.

The MBA top-up takes approximately six months and the prices are as follows:

UWIC - £3650

Edge Hill University - £3300

UWIC - Distance Learning £2500 (International students will not be granted a visa for this option).

CAS
The legalities for foreign students who will be registering at Universities.
The University will have to issue a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) to any student whose Tier 4 Student visa was applied for on or after the 5th October 2009.

All those who applied for a visa before that date will have to apply to the UKBA to request permission to change institution and provide evidence that they have done so.

A University cannot register anyone as a student whose leave to remain was granted on the basis that they were students at a different higher education institution.

We would require confirmation from the colleges as to which students would need a CAS from the University, and which would inform UKBA of transfer, if they transfer then we would have to see a confirmation email from UKBA to be able to enrol students.

Open University Malaysia

We are pleased to announce a partnership agreement with Open University Malaysia who will become responsible along with Meteor for all ATHE membership and courses in Malaysia. This agreement involves several other issues and will in effect mean that ATHE will have a base in Kuala Lumpur. More news during next week.

Top up Degree

Any student who has completed our Advanced Diploma in Business Management can progress to a third year BA (Hons) International Business Administration (IBA) top up at UWIC.

Application forms available from ATHE but also shortly online. It is important that the course done is ATHE course although credit for units done elsewhere will be considered but students must complete ATHE exams which will be based on ATHE Units.

Examinations are held three times a year at a central location in London, Birmingham and Manchester. Dates include July, November and April but are subject to change depending on University starts.

We would be most grateful if applications are sent in as soon as possible especially where candidates' visas are expiring before start of course or near enough. The start of term is Monday 20th September for all undergraduates. The compulsory induction and enrolment, module selection, registration, class allocation etc will all take place sometime that first week. Classes will begin the week beginning Monday 27th September.

Distance Learning

We are now accepting Distance Learning Advanced Entry MBA applications to start in September for UWIC.

This news item will continually change providing starting dates and whatever else the student or centre will need to know. We should have a number of starting dates arranged soon.

Any queries regarding applications must be made to ATHE and not to the University.
Also any applications must be forwarded from ATHE office and not from elsewhere using ATHE name.

The links below are for student information and we are continually building relationships with these Universities. Any news of this will be provided in future bulletins.

Please note

That agreements or pending agreements with Universities applies to students who have completed ATHE courses.

While Anglia Ruskin will accept our courses, the fees have increased and therefore we will be generally be using University of Wales and Edge Hill for progression.

We are also in the process of arranging progression for all our undergraduate courses.

We are negotiating for our new Postgraduate Diploma in IT to progress to MSc in due course.
