Course Summary
Unlike some other occupations such as doctors or teachers, managers do not form a single homogenous group, they work in different ways and at many different levels in many different types of organizations. 
The Postgraduate Diploma in Tourism Management {PGDTM} revolves around the important role of Management by teaching students how to develop success at management level within the travel, tourism and hospitality industry.

Progression
Students who already have work experience and/or a degree can progress to take the MBA or other Masters course at any one of a number of UK universities.
Potential Jobs
Students completing this course will usually work in Management or Administrative roles managing staff in a variety of different scenarios from small to large businesses.


Assessment
This course assessment is now by examination and a project for all registrations after 14th May 2010. Two examinations will be held same day, one of three hours to cover mandatory units and the other of two hours to cover optional units. Questions will be provided by ATHE on the day to the centre examination officer. The examination officer will be responsible to forward completed papers to ATHE immediately after examination. The examination will consist of 70% of the total marks, the other 30% being for the Project. Examinations will be held four times a year.

Entry Requirments
An honours degree is the entry requirement for this course, however ATHE will consider students that are over the age of 24 and have at least four years management experience.

Students also need to be fluent in English unless course is undertaken in a country where English is not the spoken or first language.

Registration within 14 days of start is important as eligibility needs to be confirmed early on.
